FAQ

What is umbrella Insurance?

Umbrella insurance can be broken down into personal and commercial umbrella insurance policies. Both act as extra liability coverage in case limits are exhausted. Umbrella insurance adds extra coverage — in personal, it supplements home and auto insurance. For example, if you have already exhausted the limits of your auto insurance policy after getting into an accident, umbrella insurance can expand those limits of your current policy to keep you covered.

Why should I get life insurance?
Life insurance allows people to grieve and protects the people you love. Nowadays, additional living benefits are included in life insurance policies. This allows you to use the death benefit to pay for things such as your mortgage, bills, and treatment in the event that you get diagnosed with a chronic or terminal illness (such as cancer, dementia, ALS, etc.), or have long-lasting complications from a stroke or a heart attack. When you’re covered, your kids are not burdened with the bills that often come with a tragedy in the family.
As a business owner, why should I get business insurance?
Business insurance will cover bodily injury or property damage. This can be damage done to employees or property, and business insurance will keep you covered. Beyond that, it can cover the cost of false advertising claims as well as incidents that could not have been planned for and end up costing your business. With a business insurance policy, your business is protected from slip & fall injuries, property damage, business equipment failures, and more. Reach out today to see what a business insurance policy can do for you.
What factors affect the cost of my car insurance?
Various factors affect your auto insurance rates. Most common among them are your driving history, location, age, and annual mileage (how much you drive).
Why do I need home insurance?
If your home suffers any sort of damage, the insurance will pay to keep your roof over your head in the event of a loss. If your home is temporarily uninhabitable due to a loss (or severe damage), loss of use coverage is part of a home insurance policy that pays for you to stay in a hotel, motel, or elsewhere during the rebuilding process. Common causes of loss are fire, smoke, wind, and water damage.
What do I need to know about earthquake insurance?

Earthquake insurance is a specialized form of protection that provides coverage for property damage, structural repairs, and personal belongings damaged by earth movements. It is not usually included in standard homeowners, renters, or condo insurance policies. However, it may be available as a standalone policy or an add-on to your existing coverage.

The cost of earthquake insurance varies depending on the location of your property, the age of your home, the type of foundation, and the coverage amount you choose. The deductible for earthquake insurance is typically higher than that of standard homeowners insurance.

If you live in an earthquake-prone area, it is advisable to consider purchasing earthquake insurance. However, it is important to note that earthquake insurance does not cover all types of damage. For example, it does not cover damage caused by floods, fires, or tsunamis. It is also important to read the policy carefully to understand what is covered and what is not.

What is worker's compensation?

Worker’s compensation is a form of insurance that provides cash benefits and/or medical care for workers who are injured or become ill as a direct result of their job. Employers pay for this insurance, and shall not require the employee to contribute to the cost of compensation.

The U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Workers’ Compensation Programs (OWCP) administers four major disability compensation programs which provides to federal workers (or their dependents) and other specific groups who are injured at work or acquire an occupational disease – providing the injured: Wage replacement benefits, Medical treatment, Vocational rehabilitation, and Other benefits. Other specific groups are covered by: Federal Employees’ Compensation Program, Longshore and Harbor Workers’ Compensation Program, Federal Black Lung Program, and Energy Employees Occupational Illness Compensation Program.

What is excess insurance and why might I want to purchase coverage?

Excess insurance is a type of insurance policy that provides additional coverage beyond the limits of your primary insurance policy. It is also known as “umbrella insurance” or “supplemental liability insurance”.

There are several reasons why you might want to consider purchasing excess insurance. For example, if you own a home or a car, excess insurance can provide additional liability coverage in case of an accident or injury that exceeds the limits of your primary insurance policy. It can also provide coverage for legal fees and other expenses associated with a lawsuit.

Excess insurance can also be useful if you have a high net worth or own valuable assets that could be at risk in a lawsuit. It can provide additional protection for your assets and help you avoid financial ruin in case of a large settlement or judgment.

What is important to know about renter's insurance?
Renter’s insurance is a type of insurance policy that provides coverage for personal belongings, liability claims, and additional living expenses in case of theft, fire, and other disasters. It is designed for people who rent their homes and is not usually included in standard homeowners, condo, or apartment insurance policies.

The cost of renter’s insurance varies depending on the amount of coverage you need, your location, and other factors. The average monthly premium for renter’s insurance is around $16. However, you may be able to get a lower rate by bundling your renter’s insurance with other policies such as auto insurance.

It is important to note that renter’s insurance does not cover all types of damage. For example, it does not cover damage caused by floods, earthquakes, or intentional acts of harm. It is also important to read the policy carefully to understand what is covered and what is not.

If you are renting a home or an apartment, it is advisable to consider purchasing renter’s insurance to protect your personal belongings and provide liability coverage. It can also provide additional living expenses in case you need to temporarily relocate due to a covered loss.

What does general liability insurance cover?

General Liability insurance is a type of insurance policy that provides coverage for businesses against claims of bodily injury, property damage, and personal injury. It typically covers legal costs, such as attorneys’ fees, court costs, and settlements or judgments that result from covered claims.

General Liability insurance can cover a wide range of incidents, including but not limited to:

  • Bodily injury: If someone is injured on your business premises or as a result of your business operations, General Liability insurance can provide coverage for medical expenses, lost wages, and other damages.
  • Property damage: If your business causes damage to someone else’s property, General Liability insurance can provide coverage for repairs or replacement.
  • Personal injury: If your business causes harm to someone’s reputation or infringes on their privacy rights, General Liability insurance can provide coverage for damages.
  • Advertising injury: If your business causes harm to another business’s reputation through advertising, General Liability insurance can provide coverage for damages.

It is important to note that General Liability insurance does not cover all types of claims. For example, it does not cover claims related to employee injuries or damage to your own property. It is also important to read the policy carefully to understand what is covered and what is not.
